Humidity Effects on S19 Fan Curves
Korean summer humidity shifts Antminer S19 fan behavior more than most operators expect. Chamber data from July 2026 assessments.
July assessments in our Daejeon chamber coincided with an unusually humid stretch—ambient humidity outside reached 78% RH while our chamber held 50% RH. Comparing S19 Pro units tested at 45% RH versus 58% RH revealed fan behavior differences worth noting for operators running in less controlled environments.
Fan Speed Response
At identical 24°C ambient temperature, S19 Pro units tested at 58% RH ran fans 6–9% faster on average after hour twelve compared to the same model at 45% RH. The firmware interprets higher humidity as a cooling challenge and biases toward aggressive fan curves.
Acoustic Impact
Higher fan speeds translated to 3–4 dB additional noise at one meter. For container deployments near residential boundaries, this difference can push operations past local noise ordinances during summer months.
Hash Rate Stability
Despite faster fans, hash rate remained stable on all units tested. The concern is not performance loss but increased wear on fan bearings and higher power consumption from fan motors working harder.
Recommendations for Humid Deployments

- Monitor humidity alongside temperature in your logging setup
- Consider dehumidification for intake air if RH consistently exceeds 65%
- Budget for fan replacement on a shorter interval—humid environments accelerate bearing wear
